About the Role

We are looking for an emerging consulting professional who has demonstrated success in their career and is ready to continue developing their expertise in consulting.

This role is well suited to someone who is naturally curious, enjoys solving complex problems, and can move comfortably between research, analysis, writing, project coordination, engagement, and client-facing work.

As a Consultant, you will work alongside KASPRE’s senior consulting team on projects across our service areas. Depending on the assignment, you may contribute to strategic and operational planning, organizational reviews, governance work, policy and research, regulatory projects, engagement processes, facilitation, or other advisory work.

You will be expected to understand the client’s context, work thoughtfully with different forms of evidence and knowledge, and help translate information into practical recommendations that clients can use.

What You’ll Be Doing

Depending on the project, responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting research, environmental scans, jurisdictional reviews, and evidence-informed analysis.
  • Reviewing and synthesizing complex information into clear findings, themes, and recommendations.
  • Supporting strategic and operational planning processes.
  • Supporting stakeholder and community engagement, consultation, interviews, workshops, retreats, and facilitated sessions through detailed note taking and then session summary development.
  • Developing interview guides, discussion guides, surveys, workshop materials, and engagement tools.
  • Preparing professional reports, briefing notes, presentations, business cases, proposals, funding submissions, and executive correspondence.
  • Coordinating projects, meetings, schedules, deliverables, and follow-up activities, at times in collaboration with the team’s executive administrative assistant.
  • Participating in client meetings and contributing to discussions and recommendations.
  • Supporting the preparation of engagement summaries, reports, implementation plans, and other client deliverables.
  • Working collaboratively with senior consultants, project leads, clients, and partners to move projects from planning through delivery.

What We’re Looking For

You are curious, thoughtful, organized, and dependable.

You ask good questions, listen carefully, and are able to understand both the immediate issue in front of you and the broader organizational context around it.

You take pride in producing high-quality work and are comfortable working in an environment where projects, sectors, and client needs can vary considerably.

You can work independently when needed, while also understanding that strong consulting work is collaborative. You welcome feedback, contribute ideas, communicate clearly, and know when to seek guidance or bring additional expertise into a conversation.

Most importantly, you understand that good consulting is not about arriving with a predetermined answer. It is about working with clients to understand their context, bringing together evidence, experience, and different forms of knowledge, and helping develop practical approaches that can actually be implemented.

Applicants should possess a university degree in an area such as:

  • Business Administration
  • Public Administration
  • Public Policy

We are generally seeking candidates with approximately three to seven years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience.

Relevant experience may come from consulting, government, Crown corporations, Indigenous governments or organizations, municipalities, healthcare, regulatory agencies, economic development organizations, post-secondary institutions, non-profit organizations, businesses, or other complex organizational environments.

  • Professional writing and editing
  • Research and analytical thinking
  • Presentation development
  • Project coordination and scheduling
  • Time management and organization
  • Meeting and facilitation support
  • Client relationship management

Experience using ClickUp for project management, task coordination, and workload management is considered an asset.

Experience developing or administering online learning through Thinkific is also considered an asset, reflecting KASPRE’s growing Learning practice.

What Our Clients Expect

Our clients engage KASPRE because they expect thoughtful advice, strong professional judgment, high-quality work, and practical recommendations they can use.

As a Consultant, you may participate in meetings with executive leaders, contribute to workshops and facilitated sessions, prepare documents that are presented directly to clients, and support recommendations that influence organizational decisions.

For that reason, we are looking for someone who is confident, articulate, professional, diplomatic, and capable of representing KASPRE with integrity.

You will not be expected to independently lead KASPRE’s most complex engagements. You will, however, contribute meaningfully to every project, take responsibility for the quality of your work, exercise sound judgment, and continue developing your consulting skills alongside our senior team.

How We Work

KASPRE takes a collaborative and practical approach to consulting.

We recognize that strong advice requires more than technical expertise. It requires understanding the client’s environment, listening carefully, bringing together evidence and experience, and recognizing that different forms of knowledge can contribute to better decisions. Our goal is to develop approaches that make sense within our client's context and can be implemented in practice.

Our work with Indigenous clients, communities, and partners is also guided by KASPRE’s Walking Together Commitments, which describe how we approach relationships, reconciliation, collaboration, shared learning and our own corporate culture.

What It’s Like to Work at KASPRE

KASPRE is a small, senior-led consulting firm where people are trusted to think, contribute, and take ownership of their work.

Our culture is collaborative, flexible, and highly accountable. We care about producing excellent work, meeting our commitments to clients, and creating an environment where talented professionals can continue developing their expertise.

Consultants have the opportunity to work directly with experienced professionals and gain exposure to a wide range of organizations, sectors, and consulting assignments.

You may spend one project supporting a strategic planning process, another conducting policy research, another helping facilitate stakeholder engagement, and another contributing to an organizational or governance review.

We value curiosity, professionalism, humility, sound judgment, collaboration, continuous learning, and people who are generous with their expertise.

We are intentionally building a consulting firm where good ideas matter more than hierarchy and where people can do meaningful work alongside colleagues they respect.
